Architectural Description: 83 Bradford Street is a 1 1/2-story, 6-bay, Greek Revival-style sidehall cottage; the cross-gable roof is clad in asphalt shingles with partial cornice returns, a brick exterior end chimney is located at the gable end of the side ell, gable dormers exist on the east facade and a roof-top deck is located on the rear facade.; the primary facade is clad in clapboard, wood shingles clad the secondary facades, the foundation is brick and corner boards frame the building; a cornice extends across the side ell, and is covered with asphalt shingles; the fenestration includes 6/6 wood DHS replacements with wood trim; the primary entrance door is replacement pane and panel with a monumental surround, the secondary entry, on the ell, has a small entablature with another pane and panel replacement door; A wood deck extends across the primary facade and side ell of the building; There is an open deck on the 1st floor of the south side.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): First shown on the 1858 atlas, #83 Bradford Street occupies a prominent location on Bradford. In 1880, the house belonged to R.C. Young followed by E.C. Nickerson in 1907. In 1886, an Alfred W. Cushman, a conductor, is noted as living here.
