Historical Narrative: As per Josephine Del Deo (1977): "This Cape Cod cottage was present on the 1858 Henry F. Walling map and showed the same ownership on the 1880 map, and is corroborated by the 1886 residence Directory. The typical Cape Cod cottage tucked in beside the shops on either side shows the type of community development Provincetown exhibited from the beginning. Two working wharfs across the street, Bowley's Wharf and Atwood's Wharf, provided the busy activity of that part of town. Owned by Richard Collins, a fisherman, and John Collins in 1858. Owner in 1977 (Max Berman) claimed house dated to 1750." As per Tom Boland (1994): "This house was originally #189 Commercial Street. In 1880, the house at 190 Commercial is noted as being owned by R. Cottus. Merely noted as a dwelling in 1898, by 1901, we know that the owner was William W. Clapp, as house painter. In 1907, the ownership is attributed to Clapp and Parsons. In the 1980s it was converted to a restaurant use." Currently "Spiritus" (2003). ALTERED - NEEDS CHANGE NARRATIVE
