Architectural Description: 162 Commercial St. is a 2-story, 4-bay, vernacular Greek Revival-style dwelling; hipped roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, interior brick chimney at roof ridge of core, interior brick chimney at roof ridge of addition; exterior is clad in clapboard on front facade and wood shingles on remaining facades with wood corner boards; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 2/1 wood DHS with wood surrounds; primary entrance is off-center and sheltered by a flat-roof hood supported by decorative brackets; open deck with simple wood railing and no roof extends across the front facade; historic 2nd-story gable-roof addition on rear facade is lit by 6/1 wood DHS and 4-light wood casement, and is accessed by an enclosed side entrance.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Built by Mr. R. Atkins, the brother of the owner of 160 Commercial, it is noted clearly on the 1858 atlas. Mr. Atkins remained at this property through 1880. In 1907, a L.D. Baker resided here. Currently "Harborside Realty" (2003).
