Historical Narrative: As per Mary Avellar (1977): Home of Oscar Giebrich an Richard Miller - noted artists.
As per Tom Boland (1994): "510 Commercial Street is shown on the map of 1836 and the atlas of 1858. In 1880, the owner was noted as D. Lewis. By 1901, the ownership is ascribed to Lewis B. Pinckney, a mariner. In the early 20th century, this house was home to Oscar Giebrich and Richard Miller, local artists.
The house has retained its large front and rear yards throughout its history allowing it to give a sense of what early homesteads looked like at the beginning of the 19th century. That, in conjunction with its fine preservation, cause it to be a very good example of early Cape Cod houses.
It is notable that this house, an early one for Provincetown, is sited so that its facade faces due south. This is important in that many early Cape Cod houses had such a situation."
