Francis 'Flyer' Santos 100th birthday album
A 100th birthday scrapbook, loaned by the family of Francis 'Flyer' Santos, commemorating the centennial celebration of one of Provincetown's best known and most beloved citizens. Included are pictures of the party at Bubala's, newspaper tributes and recollections by many family members and lifelong friends. Renowned as a boat builder, Flyer built a half scale model of the Rose Dorothea, the schooner that won the Lipton Cup and is on permanent display on the second floor of the Provincetown Public Library. He was also one of the founders of the West End Racing Club, a sailing program for children 8-16 that has been in operation since the 1950's. | |
