Architectural Description: This is a 1-1/2-story; 5-bay; asphalt roof shingles; interior brick chimney; partial cornice returns; rounded modillions under eave; 2/2 DHS wood windows with entablature surrounds; shed dormers with replacement 6/6 DHS wood windows and a Chicago-style window with a single-pane center window flanked by 1/1 DHS; wood entablature door surround with multi-paneled wood door and 4-light transom

Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): One of many houses relocated from the settlement at Long Point. Originally owned by Edward Starr, it was relocated to its current site after 1858 but before 1860. It is unlikely that the house is much older than its relocation date, given its stylistic characteristics. In 1880, Mr. Starr continued as owner. By 1907, the property had changed hands to an H. Simmonds. Today, 59 Commercial Street is occupied by the Center for Coastal Studies. Still Center for Coastal Studies (2003)
