Architectural Description: 493-495 Commercial St. is a 2-1/2-story, 5-bay, vernacular Greek Revival-style dwelling; side-gable roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles; partial cornice returns; skylight; interior brick chimney; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards and trim; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 1/1 vinyl DHS replacement windows; inoperable shutters; primary entrance is sheltered by a pediment portico supported by Tuscan columns; 2nd-story deck and alternate entrance are a later addition; 2-story ell on rear facade has Colonial Revival details and casement windows with shutters. |
