Architectural Description: 4 Central Street is a 1-story, 4-bay 3/4cottage with a rear ell. The side gable roof has a central brick chimney at the ridge; brick chimney on rear ell. The building is clad in clapboard on front and wood shingle on secondary facades. The main entry consists of a pane and panel door with storm, accessed by a brick stoop. A center gable extends and forms a hood over door; supported by elaborate end brackets. Fenestration is 2/1 DHS with storms on the primary facade, with 2/1 and 2/2 DHS in other parts of building. A 1-story rear ell extends north of the main block; a secondary entry is located on the east facade of this ell; 4/2 DHS windows above. Another addition is located to the rear of this ell, and it has its own entry. |

Historical Narrative: Current owner (2004) says the building was constructed in the mid-19th century with alterations in late 19th century (door surround, etc.). Interior changes were made, as well; the rear section was added in the early 20th century. Interior stair orientation was likely moved. |
