Architectural Description: 170 Bradford Street is a 2-story, 5-bay, Federal-style dwelling; the roof is hipped, brick interior end chimneys are located on the main block and the rear additions each have a chimney, there is a frieze below eaves; primary facade is clad in clapboard with wood trim and the foundation is brick, vertical plank siding is visible on eastern half of main building, as is stone foundation section; the fenestration includes 2/1 wood DHS windows with aluminum storms, the rear has an irregular fenestration with 6-light wood casements and 6/6 wood DHS; the primary entrance contains a small shed hood above door with wood surround; 1 1/2-story additions at rear, each with separate entry, a wooden stair leading to a central 2nd-story entry, this 2-story central portion extends from the rear of the main hipped-roof house section, between the 1-story gable roof additions that extend from the sides of the building
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Clearly shown in the 1836 map, the house at 170 Bradford Street does not have a name listed in the 1858 atlas. In 1880, it was owned by S.B. Phinney. In 1901, the ownership was one Antone Gaspie.
