Historic District Survey information for 242 Bradford St
Architectural Description: 242 Bradford Street is a 1 1/2-story, 5-bay, Greek Revival cottage; the roof is side gable, the box cornice has been rebuilt, and there are small partial cornice returns on the gable ends, a central brick chimney is located just below the roof ridge on the front roof slope; clapboard clads the primary facade, while wood shingles are on the secondary facades; the fenestration includes 6/6 DHS, 2/2 wood DHS; the primary entrance contains a central wood panel door with simple wood surround, secondary entrances are located on the east and west facades
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Although shown on the 1836 map, it is not until 1858 that a name appears near the site at 242 Bradford with the owner being either Whalon or Bowley. In 1880, however, it is certain that the property was owned by one Mr. Silva. By 1907, the ownership had again changed to A. Turner.
