Architectural Description: 424 Commercial St. is a 2-story, 3-bay, vernacular Greek Revival-style dwelling with a modern 1-1/2-story gable-roof ell on the rear (c.1980s); gable-front roof is sheathed in wood shingles, partial cornice returns, skylights; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards and trim; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 2/1 wood DHS and 2/2 wood DHS windows, 6-light wood awning window, ribbon windows in gable end, modern casements in shed dormers, paired 2/2 wood DHS in gable dormer on rear ell; primary entrance is accessed by a wood panel door with flanking single-light sidelights with panels below and a pediment with sunburst in the tympanum; modern entrance has been installed on front facade with 3 large-light modern doors next to historic door; shed dormers with roof-top deck added to roof of core. |
