Architectural Description: 406 Commercial St. is a 1-1/2-story, 5-bay astylistic dwelling converted to commercial use; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, partial cornice returns, interior brick chimney on side roof slope, skylights; exterior is clad in clapboard siding with wood corner boards and trim; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 1/1 DHS replacement windows, grouped 6/6 DHS on left side facade, Chicago-style windows with Queen Anne middle section and single-light casements on right side facade; primary entrance located in center bay has a simple door surround and a storm door; entrance is reached by brick steps; below grade to right of main entrance is a basement entrance with gabled hood; right side facade has large shed dormer with 6/6 replacement DHS; secondary entrance with wood steps on left side facade; rear facade has 1-story shed-roof addition with roof-top deck accessed by spiral staircase and 2nd-story entrance.
