Architectural Description: 408 Commercial St. is a 1-1/2-story, 3-bay, astylistic sidehall cottage; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, partial cornice returns, exterior concrete block chimney on rear facade; exterior is clad in vinyl siding with vinyl trim; building sits on an obscured foundation; fenestration includes 1/1 DHS with shutters and simple trim around 1st-story fenestration, side facades have 6/6 DHS with inoperable shutters on right side facade, left side facade facing Dyer Street has 6/6 wood DHS and 1/1 wood replacement, rear facade has paired awning windows with inoperable shutters on 1st story and 6/6 DHS on 2nd story, storm windows; primary entrance in end bay is accessed by a pane-and-panel door with an aluminum storm door; modern wood decks on 1st and 2nd stories of front facade; 1st-story deck has lattice skirting; 2nd-story deck is accessed by sliding glass doors with fanlights in front gable end; left side facade facing Dyer Street has central secondary entry; rear facade also has a secondary entry.
