Historic District Survey information for 150 Commercial St
Architectural Description: 150 Commercial St. is a 1-story, 5-bay vernacular Federal-style dwelling; side-gable roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, two interior brick chimneys near roof ridge, wood cornice; exterior is clad in clapboard with wood corner boards; fenestration includes 6/6 wood DHS on front facade, 2/2 wood DHS on side facades, and square bay with single-light and 2/2 DHS windows on left side facade; primary entrance is accessed by a pane-and-panel door with wood surround and flanking pilasters located in the center bay that is reached by a brick stoop; 2nd-story deck is accessed by modern door flanked by 8/8/8 THS.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Clearly shown on the 1836 map, in 1858 the property was owned by C.A. Hannum a local sail maker who, with his brother Artemus, worked out of Union Wharf at 90 Commercial Street. In 1880, the site was still owned by C.A. Hannum. By 1907, the Chairman of the Provincetown School Committee, L.W. Hannam, resided here.
