Architectural Description: 176 Commercial St. is a 2-1/2-story, 3-bay, Greek Revival-style dwelling; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, wood cornice with partial returns, shed dormers on core, gable dormers on side ell, skylights; exterior is clad in clapboard siding with wood pilaster corner boards and trim; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 6-pane fixed wood storefront windows and continuous and triple 2/2 DHS replacements on front facade, 2/2 and 1/1 DHS replacements on side facades, canted bays on right side facade have 2/2 and 1/1 DHS with paired pendanted brackets, 2/2 DHS windows in basement level have been painted over, storm windows, inoperable shutters; primary entrance is located in the raised basement level and is accessed by a central recessed door; cornice over storefront level has paired brackets and modillions; left side facade has Greek Revival-style secondary entry with pilasters, entablature, and sidelight; gable-roof side ell is accessed by secondary entry with wood surround including flat hood, large brackets and paired pendanted brackets.
