Architectural Description: 124 Commercial St. is a 1-1/2-story, 4-bay Italianate-style cottage; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, wood cornice with partial returns, interior corbelled brick chimney at front roof ridge; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards, building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes single 2/2 wood DHS with storm windows; primary entrance is accessed by paired pane-and-panel doors, entablature entry-hood supported by brackets and detailed cornice; shed extends from rear ell; 3/3 DHS; two secondary entries; entry in shed section; front yard is enclosed by wood picket fence.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): In 1858, 124 Commercial Street was owned by A. Hamblen, who worked as a mason. By 1880, the property changed hands to a J. Whorf. The owner listed for 1907 is C. Kennedy.
