Historic District Survey information for 54 Commercial St
Architectural Description: 54 Commercial St is a 1-story, 5-bay full cottage with side gable roof. The roof is clad in wood shingles and features a full cornice return and gable dormers in the front roof slope. A large brick chimney is centered at the roof ridge. Corner boards frame the primary facade. The primary entrance contains a panel door with a multi-light and panel storm; the wood door surround includes pilasters, a 4-light transom, and dentils along top of cornice above door. Fenestration includes 6/6 wood DHS with operable louvered shutters, casements at the top of the west gable end and 4-light casements in the east gable end. A rear ell section has a shed dormer in the roof slope and an enclosed porch; a sliding glass door at the second story accesses a deck above the enclosed porch. Fenestration in the ell includes Chicago-style windows and 4/4 DHS.
