Architectural Description: 509 Commercial St. is a 2-story, 3-bay commercial building; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles; partial cornice returns; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards and trim; building sits on a concrete block foundation; fenestration includes 6-pane and single-pane wood awning windows, one 12-pane bay window on primary facade, 6/6 wood DHS; primary entrance is accessed by a wood pane-and-panel door and is reached by concrete and brick steps; 2nd-story porch with access on south side.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Shown on the 1858 map, #509 Commercial Street is noted as a store (probably a fish store house). In 1880, the property was owned by T. Daggett and stayed in the Daggett family until at least 1907 when it was still listed as a fish storehouse for Alton L. Daggett, fisherman. Today, it is a framing shop. Currently "Pequod" (2003).
