Historic District Survey information for 7 Commercial St
Architectural Description: This cottage is No. 6. It is a 2-story, 3-bay dwelling with a 2nd-story overhang. The saltbox roof is clad in wood shingles. A massive interior brick chimney is centered on the peak of the roof. Second story window openings contain 9-pane wood casements with operable louvered shutters. Other window openings are obscured by foliage but appear to contain double hung sash. The enclosed entry vestibule contains a multi-paneled wood door with flanking pilasters. The rear elevation contains a shed dormer and open porches on the 1st and 2nd-floor levels.
Historical Narrative: The National Register Nomination states this structure was built c. 1930, however the massive central chimney suggest a much earlier construction date.
