Architectural Description: 436 Commercial St. is a 2-story, 4-bay, Colonial Revival-style dwelling; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, full cornice returns, exterior brick chimney at rear ell; exterior is clad in clapboard siding with wood shingles in the gable ends, wood corner pilasters and trim; building sits on an obscured foundation; fenestration includes 12/12 wood DHS, triple window in gable end with 12/12 DHS flanked by vertical 3/3 DHS and topped by fanlight, bay window with hipped roof and multi-light window on one side and 12/12 DHS on other side, storm windows, inoperable shutters flank most windows on west facade; primary entrance is accessed by a replacement door with a large wood surround featuring an entablature, pilasters, and sidelights; rear (north) facade has double-height porch with square posts; 1-story rear ell has roof-top deck; complex gable wall dormer connected to double gable dormer on east facade, 20/12 DHS in gable wall dormer section with multi-light at top, oval window in center gable, and 8/12 DHS in rear dormer section.
