Architectural Description: 539 Commercial St. is comprised of two attached commercial buildings; the first (south half) is a 3-story, 6-bay building; side-gable roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, partial cornice returns; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards and trim; fenestration includes 6/6 vinyl DHS windows; accessed by wood pane-and-panel doors; enclosed 1-story shed-roof porch; gabled 4th story added to roof peak near south facade; exterior steps to entries on upper stories; modern shed-roof addition on south facade to seat restaurant patrons; Two buildings make up this property. The second building (north half) was originally 2 stories with a 3rd-story addition; side-gable roof is sheathed in asphalt singles; remnants of partial cornice return visible in gable end; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards and trim; fenestration includes 6/6 wood DHS, 1/1 vinyl DHS, single-pane wood casements; modern multi-pane and large-pane doors on side facade entrances; exterior steps to alternate entrances.
