Architectural Description: 594 Commercial St. is a 1-1/2-story, 3-bay cottage with side ell; cross-gable roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles; gable dormers; interior brick chimney at roof ridge and exterior brick end brick chimney on right side facade; wood cornice with partial returns; exterior is clad in clapboard siding with wood trim; fenestration includes 6/6, 2/2 and 2/1 DHS, gable dormer with 2/2 DHS, one small gable window closed up; wood storm windows; primary entrance is accessed by a panel door; wood door surround with pilasters, entablature and 4-light sidelights; the right side facade contains a 1-story shed roof addition near rear.
Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Constructed between 1836 and 1858, 594 Commercial Street is shown on the 1858 map of Provincetown, but it is now until 1880, that the name L.B. Lewis is ascribed to it. By 1901-1907, the property was owned by Herbert S. Cook.
