Architectural Description: 562 Commercial St. is a 1-1/2-story, 5-bay, center entry cottage; side-gable roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles; two gable dormers on front roof slope; exterior brick end chimney on right side facade; exterior is clad in clapboard siding with wood cornice and corner pilasters; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 6/6 replacement DHS windows with snap-in muntins, wood trim around windows; primary entrance in center bay is accessed by a wood 6-panel door reached by a brick stoop; entry door surround has heavy entablature, pilasters and 4-light sidelights; addition on rear facade with shed dormers and secondary entry; yard is enclosed by a wood picket fence.
Historical Narrative: As per Mary Avellar (1976): "Home of John Foster and Bernard Simon both noted artists. Bernard Simon a sculptor has exhibited widely and works in both Italy and America. One of his works is owned by the Heritage Museum." NEED HISTORY ON SIMON
