Architectural Description: 577 Commercial St. is a 3-1/2-story, 5-6 bay, multi-family residential building; side-gable roof is sheathed in wood shingles; slight overhanging eave; skylights; metal chimney; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood trim; fenestration includes 1/1 vinyl DHS with single-pane fixed window in gable end; exterior steps access 2nd- and 3rd-story entrances; a 1-story, flat-roof, 6-car garage extends across the front of the building; two enclosed 2nd-story entrance vestibules are located above garage addition; an apartment house with covered car stalls is attached.

Historical Narrative: Plaque: "Eugene O'Neill, 1888-1953, Dramatist, Lived Here"; Tax Assessor's date of construction is 1965, but building must have been built before this date considering the plaque and brick foundation. Structure may date back to mid-19th century.
