Architectural Description: 447 Commercial St. is a 2-story, 3-bay, Greek Revival-style mixed-use commercial/residential building; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles, box cornice with partial returns, shed dormer, exterior brick chimney on the side facade; exterior is clad in clapboard siding with wood shingle siding on the side facade and wood corner boards and trim; building sits on a brick foundation; fenestration includes 1/1 wood DHS, canted bay display windows with fixed panes and wood shingle hipped roofs, 2nd-story square bay window on side facade; primary entrance in center bay is accessed by a wood pane-and-panel door having a wood door surround with pilasters; shed dormer has roof-top deck; rear of building has 2nd-story addition raised on posts with exposed rafter ends under eaves; exterior 2nd-story entrance on side facade; enclosed 1-story shed-roof addition on rear facade with rooftop deck; 2nd-story balcony on one side. |

Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): Not shown in the 1858 atlas, 447 Commercial is noted as owned, in conjunction with 449 Commercial by J. Kiley in 1880. By 1907, the properties were divide and the owner is noted as H.E. Atkins.
