Architectural Description: 4 West Vine Street is a 2-story, 4-bay, 3/4 cottage with hipped roof. Brick chimney centrally located on roof ridge. A small cornice wraps around between 1st and 2nd stories. Main entrance is accessed by a multi-pane-and-panel door with storm door, sheltered by a flat hood supported by elaborate brackets. Fenestration includes grouped 4/1 and 6/1 DHS to left of door, 2 single 6/1 DHS to right of door, 2nd-story windows are 2/2 DHS. Inoperable shutters. Brackets line the main roof eaves. Building faces Commercial Street/water. The rear of the building, with steeply sloping roof, indicates that 2nd story was added to front and east side, likely when Italianate details were added. Entry at 1st floor, and exterior stair to 2nd story entry at east end. 1-story gable roof addition on west end. Separate panel door entry with storm, and 6/1 DHS. 1-story gable-roof extension from rear of this addition has 6/6 DHS window and separate entry. |
