Historic District Survey information for 8 Court St
Architectural Description: 8 Court Street is a 1 1/2-story, 3-bay sidehall dwelling with a rear ell. The building is clad in clapboard on the front and north facades and wood shingles on the southern facade. The front-gable roof has partial returns, frieze below eaves, and gable dormers on roof slopes. A brick chimney is located on the north facade of the ell. The main entry consists of a panel door with simple pilaster and entablature surround and multi-light transom; wood stoop. A secondary entrance on the south facade of the rear ell is accessed by wood steps and deck. Exterior steps and deck access a 2nd story entry on rear of main building section. Windows are 6/1, 12/12 and 6/6 wood DHS with storms. Applied louvered shutters on front and operable on side facades. 1-story gable addition adjacent to door on rear ell. 1-story shed roof addition on rear.
Historical Narrative: A sign on the building says that the building was built circa 1830.
