Historic District Survey information for 15 Carver St

Architectural Description: 15 Carver Street is a 1 1/2-story, 4-bay 3/4 cottage with a rear ell. Primary facade is clad in clapboard, while secondary facades are clad in wood shingles. The side gable roof is clad in wood shingles; interior brick chimney on rear slope at ridge. The main entrance includes a modern aluminum storm door flanked by fluted pilasters (front door behind storm not visible during survey); an exterior stair on the south side accesses a 2nd floor entrance. Fenestration includes 2/1 wood DHS and 2/2 wood DHS with entablature surrounds. A rear 1-story gable roof ell contains a secondary entrance (facing west) with modern storm door; 2/2 wood DHS in ell.

Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): The house at 15 Carver Street was built between 1836 and 1858, when it is first shown [on a map]. In 1880, the site was owned by N. Young, Sr. By 1907, the house had come under the ownership of J. Souza.
