Architectural Description: 512 Commercial St. is a 1-1/2 story, 3-bay former commercial building converted to residential use; gable-front roof is sheathed in asphalt shingles; interior brick chimney; exterior is clad in wood shingles with wood corner boards and trim; fenestration includes two wood multi-light display windows on storefront, right side facade has 4-light display, 8/8 DHS, and 6/1 DHS, left side facade has 4-light wood display windows and one 1/1 DHS near rear; primary entrance in central bay of storefront is accessed by a pane-and-panel door; 1st-story storefront with full-width hipped hood and cornice with vergeboard detail supported by brackets with sunburst spandrels; right side facade has shed wall dormer, secondary entry with panel door and storm on 1st story, and multi-light door and a former porch removed on 2nd story; rear addition.

Historical Narrative: As per Tom Boland (1994): 512 Commercial Street makes its first appearance on the 1880 map of Provincetown. Although it is shown on other maps, it is not until the 1901 directory and the 1907 atlas that it is listed as 'Simeon C. Smith, Good & Provisions.'
