Architectural Description: 12 Winslow Street is a 2-story, 5-bay school on raised basement. The two end bays, with panels in 2nd story and 8/8/8 triple-hung sash in 3rd story, project from main facade plane. Brick parapet wall at roof contains central clock, sections of stone balustrade and quoins at corners. Monumental entry portel, comprising central bay, is recessed. Stone steps reach columns and pilasters with acanthus capitals at entry portal. Double pane-and-panel doors with intricate fanlight above. Door surround has large pilasters and entablature, with a small balcony and multi-light doorway above. Windows are generally 8/8/8 triple-hung sash, with 8/8 DHS in basement level. Stone belt course between basement and 1st story. Modern side ell recessed toward rear of building; standard 1-story mid-century school building design with brick exterior, grouped 1/1 DHS windows and flat roof.
